Federal funding will enable CMC to provide on-site accommodations to rural healthcare workers through a new Tiny Home Village.
Grand Coulee, WA – Coulee Medical Center (CMC) received $3,020,475 in the federal appropriations legislation signed into law by President Trump on November 13, 2025. This funding, which was secured by Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA, 4), Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) will enhance on-site housing accommodations at CMC for healthcare staff serving Grand Coulee and surrounding communities.
In recent years, CMC has explored potential projects to increase the safety and accessibility of housing accommodations the hospital provides to healthcare workers. Providing on-site housing plays an essential role in CMC’s ability to recruit and retain physicians, nurses, support staff and specialists to work in the hospital’s rural service area. To strengthen these offerings for local healthcare professionals, CMC recently began pursuing federal investment in a proposal to develop 30 modular housing units, also known as Tiny Homes, on land directly adjacent to the hospital.

Federal funding for this project was secured by Rep. Newhouse, Sen. Cantwell and Sen. Murray in the Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026. Funding was explicitly directed to Coulee Medical Center through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Facilities Program.
“In addition to reopening the federal government, the funding package includes three of our full year funding bills that my colleagues and I on the Appropriations Committee worked hard to pass this summer. This legislation will directly benefit Central Washington, with over eight million dollars in funding to important projects in our area that I secured as a member of the Committee, including over three million dollars to help Coulee Medical Center’s rural health workforce. Coulee Medical plays a vital role in Grant County, and I look forward to seeing this project become a reality” said Representative Dan Newhouse.
