The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day.
The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. To learn more, visit DAISYFoundation.org
Please say thank you by sharing your story of how a nurse made a difference you will never forget!

Congratulations, Tracy Jagla, our first DAISY AWARD, Honoree!
Tracy Jagla’s Nominator shared: “While on vacation at Steamboat Rock State Park I started to develop a laundry list of things going wrong with my body. Bottom line, I ended up being very sick and admitted in to your hospital with a UTI, pneumonia, and inevitably, sepsis (yes, I was very sick). During my recovery here I was lucky enough to have my stay here coincide with your angel of mercy, day nurse, Tracy. Don’t misunderstand me my entire care has been absolutely top shelf. But I especially want to sing my praise of my day nurse Tracy.
She worked tirelessly and was with me up to day 5 of my stay. If I needed it, she got it for me, but mostly she was very much my emotional support for my stay here. Her upbeat personality and sense of humor was an integral part of my recovery. I definitely want to sing her praise and if you don’t know it, you are extremely lucky to have her in your employee.”
